February 21, 2007 - Los Angeles: Zoya of the Revolutionary Association of Women of Afghanistan (RAWA) presented an update on the horrible plight of Afghan women at a pre-Oscar event hosted by Eve Ensler founder of V-Day, Glamour Magazine editor-in-chief Cindi Leive under the title of "women in conflict/women of peace". The event was attended by many Hollywood celebrities like Rosario Dawson, Sally Field, Jane Fonda, Salma Hayek, Paula Wagner, Marisa Tomei, Kerry Washington and others. The event honored Margaret Jayah, a survivor of sexual slavery from Sierra Leone, Myriam Merlet, the Chief of Staff of the Ministry for Women in Haiti.
Joya talked to some Hollywood stars and directors to help Afghan people by making a film on the plight of Afghan people under the domination of the fundamentalists since 1992 and their struggle for democracy and justice.
