Father, son found dead in Ghazni well

By Saifullah Maftoon

Residents recovered two dead bodies of civilians from a well on the outskirts of Ghazni city, the provincial capital of southern Ghazni province, an official said on Saturday.

The bodies were found in the Noghi area on Friday, the governor’s spokesman, Sabawon, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The two had been abducted ten days ago and were killed three days earlier, he said, adding the victims were civilians and had no connection with the government. The case is being investigated.

A relative of the victims, Akhtar Mohammad, said the slain people were father and son. They were taken away by gunmen in Afghan National Army (ANA) uniforms ten days ago under the pretext of investigation, he said.

“When my relatives did not return, I went to police and ANA troops next morning, but they had no information about them,” the relative said.

He said the father and son had returned from Iran three days before their abduction. The victims were labourers and had no personal enemity.

Ghazni Civil Hospital Director Dr. Mohammad Himmat told Pajhwok the two had been shot dead. He said the bodies were identified by their relatives, who took them home.
