17-Year-Old Newlywed Girl Mysteriously Killed in Kabul

Relatives of Farkhunda say she lived in an environment of pressure and violence after the marriage.

Local sources in Takhar’s Chah Ab district say that Farkhunda, a 17-year-old girl who married the son of a powerful local figure about a month and a half ago, has been killed under suspicious circumstances in Kabul.

Sources said on the night of Sunday, November 16, 2025, that Farkhunda married Emadullah, the son of Haji Malang, 45 days ago, a marriage that, according to relatives, had been “forced” by the groom’s family, with Emadullah pressured by his father and brother to accept it.

Relatives of Farkhunda say she lived in an environment of pressure and violence after the marriage.

According to them, two nights ago, her body was found in an apartment near her mother-in-law’s home in Kabul’s Gulbahar Center.

Farkhunda’s family describes her death as “unnatural” and says that when they attempted to transfer the body to the forensic department for examination, they were threatened by Haji Malang’s sons.

According to the family, Farkhunda’s body was buried quickly, without her father’s consent and without any investigation.
