500 Whips for the Taliban Police

This was the advertisement published in the newspaper "Advertisement" (in Persian) in the 144th Issue on Nov. 22, 2000 in Kabul:

Mr Hasem, son of Mr Qasim bid 500 whips to be needed by the Amro bil mahroof (Taliban department of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice or religious police). Each whip would cost 220,000 afghanis to accumulate a total of 110 million afghanis. Each bidder should submit their bid to the directory of the Department of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice located at Ariana Intersection and be present in person 10 days after the publishing date of the advertisement. The rules, conditions, and regulations could be observed and a bond will be required.
