Rape victim’s half-dead body dragged by horse around village in Afghan province

Massoma Anwari, head of Women’s Affairs in Ghor, confirmed the report and said that the woman was raped by this powerful figure eight months ago, and was pregnant when she was killed

Officials in Ghor province have reported that a man tied to Said Ahmad, a local commander in Ghor province, threw a woman into a valley and then tied her half-dead body to a horse and dragged her till she was dead. The incident occurred in Samk village of Dawlatyar district.

Massoma Anwari, head of Women’s Affairs in Ghor, confirmed the report and said that the woman was raped by this powerful figure eight months ago, and was pregnant when she was killed.

The report was also confirmed by Farida Nasiri, head of AIHRC’s regional department for women, and Gulsoom Rezai, a member of the provincial council.

This woman was killed when she was returning from the hospital with her daughter.

We were not successful in getting Said Ahmad’s (local powerful commander) comments on the matter. But Abdul Hai Khatibi, the governor’s spokesperson, rejected the occurrence of such an event, and stated that she fell from a horse and died while was on her way to resolve a legal issue with a group of elders.

About three weeks back, Taliban killed two women and a man ( ) in Ghor province and burned their bodies. The bodies of the victims were circulated on social media as well.
