A Kapisa family have appealed for assistance and justice after a group of armed men allegedly stole their 10-year-old daughter and reportedly married her off to a 30-year-old man.
The family, from Najrab district in Kapisa, said the incident happened four months ago when 10 armed men attacked their house and forcibly removed their daughter.
The family said that the leader of the group of armed men took their daughter to Durnama, another area in Kapisa, and then married her off to his 30-year-old son.
The family has appealed to President Ashraf Ghani for help.
"We ask President Ghani to address our problem otherwise we will set ourselves on fire because we don't have anyone," said the girl's father.
"Armed men tied our hands and [covered] our eyes and we were scared a lot, for Allah's sake bring back my daughter," said the girl's mother.
The family said that in the past four months they have asked for justice and submitted many complaints but no one has helped them with their case.
The kidnapped girl's sister is also shocked and said she wants to see justice is carried out.
"The armed men tied my father and mother's hands and took my sister," the kidnapped girl's sister said.
Meanwhile, the director general for crime investigation in Kapisa, Shir Ahmad Hoshmand, said that the incident is a family matter and efforts are underway to resolve the matter.
But Kapisa police chief confirms the existence of two illegal armed groups in Durnama area and said that it is difficult for the police to control the area.
