Explosion injures 17 civilians in northern Parwan province

In the meantime, local health officials confirmed that seventeen people, all civilians were injured following the explosion

At least seventeen people were injured following an explosion in northern Parwan province of Afghanistan on Tuesday.

Local government officials said the incident took place around 10:00 am local time in Charikar city.

Provincial security chief, Gen. Khalilullah Zeyayi confirmed that an explosion has taken place in Charikar city on Tuesday; however he did not disclose further information regarding the incident.

Gen. Zeyayi said the nature of the explosion is not clear so far and an investigation has been launched in this regard.

He also did not provide information regarding the exact number of casualties as a result of the incident.

In the meantime, local health officials confirmed that seventeen people, all civilians were injured following the explosion.

Parwan is among the relatively peaceful provinces in northern Afghanistan however anti-government armed militants are active in a number of its districts.

No group has so far claimed responsibility behind today’s incident.
