Afghan election officials receive 1269 complaints of potential fraud

ECC spokesman, Nader Mohsini said around 1,269 complaints have been received from the people

The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC) officials said they have received over 1,000 regarding the violation of election.

ECC spokesman, Nader Mohsini said around 1,269 complaints have been received from the people since 11:00 last night.

Mr. Mohsini further added that the majority of the complaints were filed through mobile phones with the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission.

According to Mohsini, around 1,107 complaints were filed through phone calls while 162 complaints were filed by individuals who visited the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission office.

He said the documented complaints will be strictly investigated and vowed that the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission will remain independent and respects the vote of the people.

In the meantime, the Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC) chief Abdul Satar Sadat said they will launch an investigation regarding the shortage of ballot papers in certain polling stations.

He said the issue will be discussed during a joint meeting with the Independent Election Commission (IEC) officials.
