Jobless man commits suicide

The victim, whose father was a farmer, always complained of joblessness

By Habibur Rahman Sherzai

A 20-year-old man has committed suicide because of economic problems and unemployment in the Burka district of northern Baghlan province.

A school graduate, Shafiullah, shot himself to death with a pistol, his cousin Mohammad Nasir told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said Shafiullah ended it all after his father refused to let him go to Iran for work. The victim, whose father was a farmer, always complained of joblessness, Nasir added.

District police chief, Lt. Col. Abdul Majid, said they had launched an investigation into the incident, highlighting widespread unemployment among youth.
