Two women found hanged from tree, naked

The AIHRC recently said that violence against women has increased by 25% in the first six months of this year, as compared to the previous year

Local officials of Logar province in south eastern Afghanistan say they have found two female corpses.

Din Mohammad Darwesh, the spokesperson of the Logar governor told BBC that yesterday, November 27, the bodies of two women were found hanged from a tree in the Baraki Barak district of this province.

The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission recently said that violence against women has increased by 25% in the first six months of this year, as compared to the previous year.

He said one of the women was more than 40-years old and the other was around 20-years old.

Mr. Darwesh said that the identity of these two women and the motive behind their killing is still unclear.

The spokesperson said that these two women were hanged naked and the investigation team of the local officials has started its investigation.

According to him, the corpses were currently in a hospital and there were no signs of beatings or torture on their body.

The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission recently said that violence against women has increased by 25% in the first six months of this year, as compared to the previous year.

This commission published a report on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and stated that in the first six months of the current year 4154 cases of violence against women had been recorded in the country.

Murder, self-immolation, suicide due to violence, beating, and coerced marriage, are the main types of violence against women recorded in this report.
