Takhar man accused of killing infant fourth daughter

He said the victim’s father -- Mohammad Naeem -- took the extreme after his return from Iran when learnt his wife had given birth to a fourth daughter

A man has killed his three-month-old daughter in the Rostakh district of northern Takhar province, a resident claimed on Tuesday.

Mohammad Halim, an area dweller, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place late on Tuesday in the Sya Aab area of the district.

He said the victim’s father -- Mohammad Naeem -- took the extreme after his return from Iran when learnt his wife had given birth to a fourth daughter. Halim added the couple had married six years ago.

But Abdul Manaf Faizi, the district chief, denied the death was filicide. Based on their investigation, he said, the child was sick and died on the way to hospital.
