Disabled protest in front of Karzai office

While chanting slogans against the government, the protestors alleged they had been deprived of their rights and were not treated as human being

The special People on Monday staged a protest in front of the Presidential Palace in Kabul, seeking their rights land plots.

More than 200 physicall challenged individuals marched from Deh Afghanan area and gathered near the Zambaq Square in front of President Hamid Karzai’s office.

While chanting slogans against the government, the protestors alleged they had been deprived of their rights and were not treated as human beings.

“The government should either give us our due rights or kill us,” said one of the protestors, carrying coffins and shrouds.

The Kabul Municipality had promised 2120 land plots for the disabled, but the vow was yet to be honoured, said the chairman of Disabled Shura, Mohammad Daud Sayad.

On behalf of the 60 disabled, he told Pajhwok Afghan News they wanted the authorities to give them their rights, land plots, salaries and work opportunities.
