A 14-year-old girl was killed in an overnight gun attack in the Imam Sahib district of northern Kunduz province, an official said on Wednesday.

Bibi Gul was shot dead by a group of gunmen who wanted to enter the house of a farmer, Abdul Zamim, police spokesman, Syed Sarwar Hussaini, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The assailants scaled the wall of Zamim's house before opening fire on Gul and her father when they were opening the door. The girl was killed, but her father survived.

Later, the assailants told the grower over the telephone they were trying to kill him. But his daughter was shot dead mistakenly, according to the police spokesman.

Woman’s Affairs Director Nadira Gyah, meanwhile, denounced the girl’s murder, asking security forces to bring the culprits to justice.
