At least four civilians have been killed and two others injured in a US-led airstrike in the northeastern Kapisa province in Afghanistan, Press TV reports.

US-led forces targeted the Ibrahim Khil region in the town of Tagab in the Kapisa province Saturday evening, Tagab governor Abdolhakim said.

Local witnesses said all victims were civilians.

Civilian casualties in US-led raids in Afghanistan have caused serious tensions between the Western side and the Afghan government.

The United Nations announced on February 4 that the year 2011 was the deadliest on record for Afghan civilians. Who lost their lives in US-led raids. The number of deaths marked a rise of eight percent from the figure in 2010, and was roughly double the number from 2007.

The US-led invasion of Afghanistan was launched in 2001. The offensive removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity continues to rise across Afghanistan despite the presence of tens of thousands of US-led troops there.

The US-led war in Afghanistan, with civilian and military casualties at record high, has become the longest war in US history.
