Afghans protest against execution of political prisoners by Iranian regime

Hundreds of Afghan citizens staged a protest in Herat against the execution of political prisoners by the Islamic Republic burning posters of Ayatollah Khamenei and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Angry protesters, which included many women, threw eggs and dye bottles to the building of Iranian Consulate in Herat.
The demonstration was organized by Solidarity Party of Afghanistan and protesters chanted slogans against Iranian officials. They also carried images of political executions in Iran, and the death of Neda Agha-Soltan as well as pictures of numerous political prisoners in Iran.
Soltani added: “They want the people of Iran to know that the people of Afghanistan sympathize with them and for the world to know what is going on in Iran.”
Demonstrators protested against Iranian efforts to spread its “dangerous and mob-like” influence in Afghanistan in guise of cultural programs. They also criticized Afghanistan government’s “inability” to defend Afghan prisoners in Iran who according to protesters are being imprisoned and executed arbitrarily in Iran.
Fereydoon Soltani, executive member of Solidarity Party of Afghanistan told Zamaneh that the demonstration in Herat was organized to express solidarity with the protest movement of Iran.
He claimed the people who were executed in Iran lost their lives for democracy and Afghan people will not abandon the people of Iran.
Soltani added: “They want the people of Iran to know that the people of Afghanistan sympathize with them and for the world to know what is going on in Iran.”
Yesterday, Hamid Karzai condemned the recent demonstrations against Iran in Afghanistan. Iran has said that the anti-Iran protests in Afghanistan are tied to the terrorist group Jundollah. Iran recently arrested Jundollah chief, Abdolmalek Rigi.
Fereydoon Soltani denied these allegations saying: “we are against Taliban, whether in Iran or in Afghanistan.”
Similar protests against Iran have been staged in the past months in Kabul and Jalalabad.
