RAWA Function on International Women's Day
March 8, 2002 - Peshawar



There were over 1500 participants, most of them women. A number of them came from inside Afghanistan to attend the event.



A large number of people could not participate due to lack of space. Like always Pakistani authorities refused to allow RAWA to hold the function in the government biggest hall in the city.



Afghan singer Mr. Mahmood Karvan presented RAWA songs



Afghan singers (L to R) Mahmood Karvan, Baryali Wali and Abdul Rab (son of well-known Afghan freedom-loving singer late Sarbaan) presented patriotic songs of RAWA.



Some of the speakers (L to R): Naeem Sarfaraz chairman Fazaldad Human Rights Institute Islamabad, Afzal Khamosh from Pakistan Mazdor Kisan Party, Cristina Cattafesta from Women in Black (Italy), Fanoos Gujjar chairman Pakistan Awami Party, Eng. Sahar head of the Jalalabad Women's Union, who came from inside Afghanistan to attend the function and Gulalai Habib former member of People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan who condemned PDPA as treacherous group.



A theatric play was also presented
by students of RAWA schools.
